So as usual whats your advice on location, must does and method of booking (flights seperate or package) please.

And to the unitiated, NO PICTURES, for mums, daughters and current wives is my rule

Thanks in advance chaps, your advice has always beaten anything elsewhere on the net, so lead on.

Re: New York Advice
Staten island ferry and the High line, both free. If going to a show get tickets from Tkts on same day. Go to the one near South Street Seaport(that's being renovated at the moment) as it opens earlier than one in Times Square

Book flights and hotel separate, even try Airbnb.

Re: New York Advice
Stay in northern Manhattan. Cheaper.

Don't worry about Empire State Building, it's a bit of a bore. Even though I've done it twice now (work trips, just bucket-list stuff for many colleagues. Had to go!)

Central Park, sunrise. Walked there 5am once with my lady. Beautiful place amid NYC madness. SO much to see there. Very romantic.

Go to MOMA (Museum of Modern Art). Bonkers/genius art. Been there 4 times now, but keep going back.

Don't think Times Square is anything "special". It's really not.

Re: New York Advice
the trycicle ride around central park is a must. Negotiate the price though.
The Rockafella building is better than The Empire State.
Grand Central Station is a good shout.
Stay in Jersey City, hotels are a lot cheaper, Marriott Courtyard is next to Newport Station and get the path train into 33rd Street (next to Maceys). Takes about 10 mins and is about $2.75.

How's that? Air miles?

Re: New York Advice
Take a lot of money, it certainly isn't cheap.

The best view of New York is from the top of the Rockefeller Centre, Empire State in front of you, Central Park the other way, the only shame being some cunty Metlife building that obscures the Chrysler.

Best free thing by a distance is the Staten Island Ferry, terrific views back towards Manhattan.

Location wise somewhere like Hells Kitchen which is walking distance to Midtown and reasonably priced.

Harlem is a mixed bag so exercise care, but if possible try and get to see a proper Gospel choir.

Jimmy's Corner off Times Square is a great little bar full of boxing memorabilia.

Finally, none of the stuff us old cunts will suggest will have any resonance with 21 year olds heading towards NY for the first time. Just the act of typing that made me ache with envy.

As mentioned the high line is good, near the end is chelsea market and the start of Bleecker street. Book a table for 9pm on a Tuesday at bathtub gin, an old speakeasy bar with burlesque and a great compere

Using Avios on Iberia from Madrid. Managed to get hotels.com to price match so many times that I'm paying about 50% of my original hotel cost too.

"Hell's Kitchen" is shall we say, "vibrant". But yes, keep your wits about you. A lot of gangstas, innit. Good food there though. Staff were very welcoming. Best steak meal I've ever eaten. $10.
